Ideas & Tips for your Slow Cooker


Slow cooker meals are perfect for a busy family on the go or meals for one. It’s a more healthier way to eat. Firstly, make a plan by writing down your meals and ingredients before you go shopping. Beef Stew, pork shoulder, and chicken thighs work best.

If you can try and prepare everything the night before. The pop into the fridge, in the morning take it out if the fridge and bring it to room temperature before you switch the cooker on.

Add just enough liquid to cover the base. Then it’s as easy as switching it on.

Don't Skip Browning the meat as it adds more flavour. Also, cook on bone such as lamb shanks add more taste. Remember to season well. Curries are brilliant by adding a creamy texture stir in Greek yogurt before serving.

If you intend to freeze the meals, make sure they are cold before placing the mixture into containers. Mark and date the containers.

Minimise mess by using Slow Cooker Liners or spray with a fine oil mist. Use a good oil avoiding sprays with additives which can damage your pan.

Chicken cooks quicker in a in a slow cooker, avoid it drying out by reducing the cooker time. Remember to read your instructions that came with the slow cooker, the booklet should give you a few meal ideas. Follow tge recipes until you feel confident making up your own meals. Spices is a great way to add flavours and increase taste.
